How to Support Indigo Bridge (Even While We're Closed)

Written By: Chloe Kessler (Outreach and Events Manager)

Big things are on the horizon for Indigo Bridge. Our journey from The Creamery building in the Historic Haymarket to our modest pop-up shop nested in a residential neighborhood in the South of Downtown neighborhood has led us to our (soon-to-be) new home at 1624 S 17th St. Ste 200. While we might appear to be hibernating to the outside perspective, we are busy behind the scenes, amassing a diverse collection of books for our new space, brainstorming literary-themed espresso drinks for our new cafe, and planning an entertainment-packed grand opening celebration.

Even though we haven’t officially opened our new doors to the public, there are many ways to support us as a shop through our transition.

Bookshop.org

Bookshop.org is an easy way to support small independent bookstores. Simply create a free account, select your favorite local bookstore, and shop for thousands of titles, and 30% of the retail value of every purchase will go directly to your bookstore of choice.

Libro.fm

Libro.fm is Bookshop’s audiobook equivalent. By creating a completely free account at Libro.fm and selecting Indigo Bridge as your local bookstore, you can shop a vast selection of audiobooks and support us even while we’re closed. Libro.fm offers a great way to listen to engaging audiobooks and support small businesses, enabling customers to enrich their minds and communities simultaneously.

Grand Opening

Stay tuned for a grand opening date, and get excited! Our grand opening this fall (date TBA) will feature local musicians, artists, and food vendors and celebrate literature, diversity, community, and our new home at 1624 S 17th St. Ste 200.

Support our Neighborhood

Until then, you can support us indirectly by supporting the growing community of small businesses within which we are situated. A healthy and vibrant local community benefits all of us, and there are many great local businesses in the South of Downtown neighborhood. If you’re looking for a bite to eat, Pepe’s and Juju’s are South of Downtown staples and just an easy stroll or drive away from our new space. Pepe’s Bistro specializes in fresh local vegetarian Mexican cuisine, and Juju’s specializes in vegan Creole and Cajun cuisine.

We are also excited to join our new neighbors on S 17th St! Planted and Co. is a beautiful boutique plant shop that opened its doors earlier this summer. Amateur botanists can get their fix of leafy green goodness here, indulging in an expertly-crafted oasis of houseplants. WallSpace LNK is a great local gallery next to our new space that showcases artwork and hosts screenings, gallery talks, and receptions. Wayfaring Strangers, a collection of portraits made during the pandemic of 2020, will be on display throughout the month of September, but stay tuned for upcoming artist showcases that are refreshed monthly. On our other side sits Conners Architectural Antiques: a treasure trove of old furniture, architectural accents, and curios that take amateur and professional interior designers alike on a tour through the past.

We can’t wait to officially open our doors again, but until then, we hope to see you on our virtual doorsteps or at our wonderful neighbors’ shops and restaurants!
